Dr. Sahar Jaafar is a licensed psychologist with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University – Post, where she received specialized training in cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, and trauma-informed therapies. She has extensive experience providing psychotherapy and psychological assessment across inpatient, outpatient, and forensic settings, working with diverse populations including first responders, immigrants, and individuals navigating significant life transitions. Dr. Jaafar’s clinical approach is compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based—integrating cognitive, behavioral, and psychodynamic principles to foster resilience, insight, and meaningful change. Her practice emphasizes creating a supportive and culturally sensitive space where clients can heal, grow, and thrive.

EXPERIENCE

Dr. Sahar Jaafar has extensive clinical experience providing psychotherapy and psychological assessment across inpatient, outpatient, forensic, and community settings. She has worked within law enforcement agencies, and has trained in leading institutions such as Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital and Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, working with diverse populations including individuals coping with trauma, severe mental illness, and high occupational stress. Dr. Jaafar has also provided culturally sensitive care to immigrant and refugee communities, integrating trauma-informed and evidence-based practices. In addition, she works with clients navigating body image concerns and the emotional aspects of bariatric surgery and lifestyle change. Her therapeutic approach emphasizes compassion, structure, and collaboration to foster insight, resilience, and meaningful, lasting change.
